Forgiveness is a struggle for me. Since I began therapy I have held the belief that it’s not necessary to my healing. I don’t feel that those responsible for my childhood of abuse and neglect are deserving of my forgiveness.
Then it dawned on me, maybe forgiveness is for me. Maybe forgiveness has to do with self-acceptance and forgiving myself for how I have survived.
Maybe once I’ve done that, the monsters of my past will lose their grip on me.
Ugh, forgiveness. Such a pinnacle of conflicting emotions for me.
How do you feel about forgiveness?
