I find the perspective of this quote intriguing.
It challenged everything I see in the survivor community with the beginning of the new year.
Everyone is looking forward to and sharing their hopes for New Beginnings. In fact, it is a hashtag being prompted by on a prominent website for mental health support, information, and advocacy.
Maybe that is why so many people have given up on resolutions, perhaps why so many people feel defeated when they don’t get the new beginning and new life that they want as they navigate mental illness, treatment, and recovery.
Maybe we survivors need to reframe how we approach moving forward in our lives. What if we change the narrative?
There is no changing the past – there is no NewBeginning …
We can only move forward to change how our story ends.
