Everyone needs a couple go-to songs that speak to their souls.
Songs you love to sing because you relate; songs you turn up and tell your friends to “shhhhh” because they NEED to hear the lyrics – the songs that always choke you up because they speak such a truth to your core.
Music is a huge part of my emotional management toolkit. My moods are easily affected by music. I don’t just hear the beat, I hear the mood – I hear the message of the song.
I have some different chill playlists to help me relax into my writing. I have playlists for work. I have playlists for the shower, for my kiddo, for road trips (that we no longer take), for dancing around the living room – there is music to fit all aspects of life and make it a little bit better.
Here is a list of a few empowering songs that speak truth to the power and beauty within us all that I really like (in no particular order). Enjoy.
- Black Sheep by MILCK
- Soar by Christina Aguilera
- Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield
- Fight Song by Rachel Patten
- Scars to Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara
- Superwoman by Alicia Keys
- Roar by Katy Perry
- Try by Colbie Caillet
- Masterpiece by Jessie J
- Courage by P!nk

I’m the same. Thanks for the song suggestions! You’ve motivated me to create a Feel Good playlist. I don’t create enough custom playlists, actually, usually just play albums or individual songs. I think a Feel Good playlist is a great one to have!
These songs got me through very tough times last year. It’s impossible not to feel emotional now when I hear them:
The Light by Sara Bareilles (I began each day with this one)
Brave by Sara Bareilles
Breathe Again by Sara Bareilles
People Get Ready by The Frames
Welcome Home by Joy Williams
😢.
Courage by P!nk is my current therapy song! 🙂 I also love Brave by Sara Bareilles.
