My name is Shanon. I am the mother of two beautiful children and the wife to an amazing man. I am also a survivor of childhood sexual abuse.
I lived for over 20 years dissociated from the realities of my childhood; never once addressing my feelings about it, connecting to them, or recognizing the psychological affects on my life. In January of 2017, my mind was triggered (I believe by a variety of environmental factors) and I found myself spiraling.
I have been in intensive therapy since this began, learning as I go. I don’t believe people realize just how big an illness C-PTSD really is.
This blog is the platform I have chosen to use to connect with and advocate for survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a place for me to work on and process my own chaos and healing.
This is a place for us all to connect, and feel not so alone as we take on the behemoth that is Complex-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder due to childhood trauma and abuse.
We are stronger together.
